The benchmark indices were trading down on Friday, with the Nifty down 162 points or 0.86% at 18,650.95 and the Sensex down around 558.45 points or 0.88% at 62,725.76. On the BSE, around 1,826 shares are up, 1,469 are down, and 167 are unchanged.
Tata Steel, Tech Mahindra, and Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd. were the top Sensex gainers, while Mahindra & Mahindra, Hindustan Unilever, and Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. were the top Sensex losers.
The top-performing sector on the sectoral front was BSE Realty Index, while the top-losing sector was BSE Auto Index. While Sobha Ltd. and Prestige Estates Projects Ltd. helped the BSE Realty Index rise 1.13%, Eicher Motors and Ashok Leyland Ltd. caused the BSE Auto Index to fall 1.15%.
The indexes rose in the wider markets, with the BSE Small cap index rising by 0.38% and the BSE Midcap index rising by 0.42%, respectively. The top mid-cap stocks were Tube Investments of India Ltd and Varun Beverages Ltd, while the top small-cap stocks were Skipper Ltd and Raymond Ltd.
