Equities benchmarks declined on Friday along with lagged global market trends as investors’ confidence remained low in the wake of the COVID rise occurring in various nations. With the exception of pharma and healthcare, all industries witnessed sales.
The S&P BSE Sensex is now trading in the red at 60,216 levels, down 609 points as of 10:55 IST, while the S&P BSE Mid-Cap has down by 515 points to 24,769 levels. The Small-Cap index has also lost 762 points and is currently trading at 27,646.
The Nifty 50 index had a notable decline of 183 points and is currently trading at levels of 17,943. The Bank Nifty had a similar decline, losing 473 points and is trading at a level of 41,935.
On December 22, shares worth 928.63 crore and 2,206.59 crore, respectively, were net purchased by both domestic institutional investors (DIIs) and foreign portfolio investors (FPIs).
