The S&P BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty50 Indian leading indexes began with most of the previous week’s losses recouped. At 10 p.m. on Monday, news of a contract for Rs 26,000 crore that Siemens Limited had secured from the Ministry of Railways helped the company’s shares rise. The stock was up Rs 70.80, or 2.54%, and was trading at Rs 2,858 on the NSE. SJVN increased by 6.08 percent. Through an electronic reverse auction, the company has been awarded the full stated capacity of a 100 MW wind power project for Rs 2.90 per unit on a build-own-operate basis.
The barometer index, the S&P BSE Sensex, increased by 5011 points to trade at 60,356 levels at 11:20 IST. While trading at 24,874 levels, the S&P BSE Mid-Cap has increased by 447 points. The Small-Cap index is now trading at 28,002 after rocketing by 749 points.
The Nifty 50 index had a massive increase of 144 points and is currently trading at levels of 17,951. The Bank Nifty also increased by 458 points, reaching a level of 42,126 today.
On December 23, domestic institutional investors (DIIs) were the net purchases of shares worth 3398.98 crores, while foreign portfolio investors (FPIs) came out to be the net sellers of shares worth 706.84 crores.
