On Wednesday, the main indexes were trading lower amid volatility. 2,144 shares fell, 1,172 increased, and 151 were constant.
BSE Sensex was trading negatively at 12:00 IST, down about 529.07 points or 0.86 percent at a level of 60,765.13, while Nifty-50 was also trading negatively at 18,071.65, down approximately 159.95 points or 0.88 percent.
Axis Bank Ltd, Ultratech Cement Ltd, and Asian Paints Ltd were the top BSE Sensex gainers, while Tata Motors Ltd, IndusInd Bank Ltd, and Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd were the top BSE Sensex losers.
Foreign institutional investors (FII) sold shares worth Rs 628.07 crore while domestic institutional investors (DII) bought shares worth Rs 350.57 crore on January 3. Tuesday’s tumultuous trading saw a 3.5 percent decline in oil prices as a result of dismal Chinese demand statistics, a gloomy economic outlook, and a stronger US currency.
